Naturally Nurtured – Animal Therapy

Naturally Nurtured – Animal Therapy

“In the company of our animal teachers (horses and bunnies), we specialize in teaching you healthy, natural techniques that can be used everyday to support your health and wellness.  It also gives both children and adults an opportunity to reconnect with animals, nature and themselves.

Ley-Anne and her animal team provide guidance to learning important self-care techniques such as relaxation breathing, reflexology techniques, animal awareness and positive self-esteem activities. Naturally Nurtured offers a seven unit program and is able to come to your facility with our “real life”bunnies as the teachers.

At Naturally Nurtured, we blend the unconditional love and therapeutic presence of our animals with the gentleness of craniosacral therapy and reflexology to support your physical and emotional well-being.”

Programs do have cost, and the cost varies depending on the program you request.

CONNECT Parent Program

CONNECT Parent Program

CONNECT© is an evidence-based 10-week manualized group program for parents and alternate caregivers of pre-teens and teens who struggle with significant behaviour problems and mental health issues. Co-developed over the last 10 years by the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre and Dr. Marlene Moretti of Simon Fraser University, the program focuses on the core components of secure attachment to promote children’s social, emotional and behavioural adjustment.

Rather than teach the A-B-C’s of parenting, CONNECT© helps caregivers understand basic attachment concepts which can then be applied across a broad range of situations and relational contexts. A strength-based approach to supporting families, CONNECT© is consistent with trauma informed practice and is offered by a variety of professionals in settings such as schools, community agencies and mental health offices.”

Many CESD Family School Wellness Workers are trained in CONNECT and facilitate the program in various areas.

  • Students practice the concept through skill practice, group discussion, individual writing, or partner work
  • The teacher continues reinforcing the concept throughout the week
  • The teacher sends information home for students to work on with parents

Zones of Regulation

Zones of Regulation

The Zones of Regulation is a systematic, cognitive behavioral approach used to teach self-regulation by categorizing all the different ways we feel, and states of alertness we experience into four concrete colored zones.  The Zones framework provides strategies to teach students to become more aware of, and independent in controlling their emotions and impulses, manage their sensory needs, and improving their ability to problem solve conflicts.

The Zones of Regulation incorporates Social Thinking® (www.socialthinking.com) concepts and numerous visuals to teach students to identify their feelings/level of alertness, understand how their behavior impacts those around them, and learn what tools they can use to manage their feelings and states.

There is a cost to purchase this program.  An app is available for purchase as well.
